Crazy Line Designs

So, you may be wondering what the latest project has been in our classroom. My students and I have been working on creating line designs. We all know that a line is straight, right? But, what if I told you that you could make CURVES entirely out of straight lines? Well, with line design you can arrange a series of straight lines in a systematic way so that they create the appearance of a smooth curve. In mathematics, we call this smooth curve an "envelope". These curves are based on mathematical formulas and can result in many complex and intriguing curves. No worries, though, it is much easier than it looks! Look at some of the work my students have completed!
